Cannot remove older version of iTunes, cannot DL latest iTunes

I have tried to download the latest iTunes version many times but in vain. Hence, decided to remove the older version of iTunes and hopefully be able to DL the latest version. But after many attempts, my PC simply cannot remove the entire older iTunes version 4. This program "Apply Software Update" still lingers in the system! It seperate dialog box pops up stating

"The feature you are trying to remove is on a network resource that is unavailable.Click an alternative path that contains the installation package 'AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi in the box below'. However, even when i try to locate for the software i simply cannnot find it!

Any suggestions pls? So stuck without iTunes bkup.

Uninstall everything again. Read the notes below the second box on removing difficult components. Try the Micosoft FixIt. If needs be press on to the next component, then delete all of the named folders and reboot before trying to install again. You shoudn't see that error when reinstalling but if you do try the MS FixIt again, or switch to the strategy in Install Missing Components.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

First delete everything related to Apple software first By going to My computer -> uninstall or change -> delete everything that's related to Apple software eg: Bonjour, a Apple mobile support and more... Next try this again and check if you have that file in regedit. If yes follow those steps again then restart your pic just for making sure all changes have been saved. Then go to downloads and install your ITunes6464 file (in my case may differ for you) if this problem stil presist again download the latest iTunes software or just go for the software that is compactible for you Windows version For more info check online. May I know whigh Windows are you using?
