Mac Pros don't have an SD card slot. You must be using some kind of adaptor. What is the adaptor and what card are you trying to use with it? Not all adaptors will take all models of card - for example, some older adaptors won't read SDXC cards.

I have 2 card readers one old one and one i bought 3 days ago,I also got dick smith to test the card and it worked first time in a computor they had for sale but I've tried the card readers in both Mac and PC and nothing at all.
The card I'm trying to read a Sandisk and it worked in dick smiths computor but not in either of mine.
Is there any kind of light on the reader to let you know that it's properly connected? On your Mac, go to Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities), and see if the drive shows up there. Are these blank SD cards or do they have data on them?
Also, do you have another USB cable you can test it with?
Matt
Yes there is a light on both cardreaders and both come on,I have tried 2 different USB cords and also plugged cardreader directly into the computor.
I have looked in disc utility and nothing shows either on mac or pc and yes the card is empty.
I'm not sure what else to suggest. Sometimes you can try pushing the card right into the reader, as the connection might be loose.
Is this definitely a Mac Pro? (I'm just a little confused when you say "also plugged cardreader directly into the computer". What OS X are you running?
Matt
It a G5 with dual processors run osx 10.5.8
Thanks for all your help.
The computor doesn't have a card slot you have to use a external card reader I have 2 and tried both but no answer.
Dunno what else to suggest. It should come up as a drive of some kind either on the desktop or when you click twice on the hard drive and it's on the side. Could be either that the card reader is bad, there's been some kinda funny business or that the SD card has become corrupted. Seeing as how you've tried it in both card readers leads me to think it may not be the card readers. Try running Disk Utility and repairing permissions, then download something called "SD Card Formatter". there's a version for Mac and Windows. Apparently they do get corrupted from time to time. Maybe the card reader needs a driver?

My Macbook Pro has an SD card slot. It worked for about 19 months, now it won't. I'm thinking it's dirty...
has the card been formatted since you bought it?
do you have access to other machines to reformat it, for example, a digital camera?
i would try to reformat it.
is the card SD, SDHC, SDXC? And the capacity in GB?
