What version of Mac OS X is your MBA running? The specs for the adapter says that you need 10.7.4. You also reportedly need the latest Thunderbolt 1.2 Update. It was pulled by Apple due to problems with it, so if you didn't get it before it was removed, you'll have to wait for it to be resposted, most likely, before the adapter will work.

Regards.

Varjak, I think you are right. I received today Apple's new thunderbolt/ethernet adaptor. I plugged it into my MB Air running the latest version of Lion, and the machine did not respond. Seems like it needs some software, but I know the thunderbolt update that was released earlier this week had problems and was retracted. I guess I'll have to wait for the update.

Just an update. I used my TB to Ethernet connector today. Wow, it's a big improvement over the USB to Ethernet adaptor. I downloaded a week's worth of emails and calendar entries in about 2 seconds. It would have taken about 2 minutes on wifi or with a USB adaptor.

It is definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you are looking for a fast connection or need to handle a lot of data flow.
