I sent an email plea earlier today and got a case number back via email. If this gets resolved, I will share the resolution here.

This is the kind of thing that drives people to seek alternatives. Here I am, willing to PAY to do the right thing, and I can't get no satisfaction. Hoping Apple resolves this issue, because I really want to do the right thing!

So far, another canned response - I think this means even Apple does not know what the problem is!

This is what they have to say, so far:

I understand that you are receiving error 5002 when attempting to upgrade your music to iTunes Plus. I know how eager you are to have this issue resolved. I will provide you with the information regarding your concern.

Erin, Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.

Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

Have a nice day!

Stay tuned, will post as I receive.

Make sure iTunes is closed and go into your iTunes folder and delete the following files:

iTunes Library Extras.itdb

iTunes Library Genius.itdb

You may even have an additional "Extras" file with a time/date stamp on it and delete that as well.

Of course, please do this at your own risk of losing any preferences that these files may contain. I don't know exactly what these files do, but I've done this fix for a number of iTunes related issues and it works almost every time.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I'm trying to use the link provided in the iTunes Plus FAQ and I keep getting the message that the iTunes Store may be busy and I should test my connection. Well, my connection is perfectly fine, and I can shop around the Store on my own while inside iTunes. I've tried having iTunes already open, and having it closed and re-launched through the link. Neither works. Will your solution fix this issue as well? I never upgraded my music, and I'd like to, but the Quick Links link in the iTunes Store is not there.
