Want to upgrade all my music to iTunes Plus. Cannot access iTunes Plus; error 5002.  Have tried upgrading iTunes to and it has not helped.  Have Googled this error 5002 and it seems to have lived since time immemorium with no resolution. Help?

PS - Dear Apple: I have a LOT of music that I want to upgrade, so you're missing out on a hefty sale !!!  <3, Erin

I am having the exact same issue the last week has this been resolved for you?

No, unfortunately my problem is not resolved.  I am not happy with iTunes or Apple at this point.  They clearly do not care about my intention to spend money on upgrading my music.

This alert is often the result of an issue with verifying your billing.

    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes.
    3. Test the issue.
    4. If it persists, sign in to using your iTunes account
    5. Click on Change account information
    6. Modify or remove your credit card information.
    7. Click Continue.
    8. Test the issue.

Sadly, this did not resolve my issue.  I removed my credit card information, and I still get the 5002 error.  I don't know what else to do.

My same issue is also not yet resolved and I cannot believe how terrible the Apple support has been which essentially has been non-existent. I too do not know what else to do.

I sent an email plea earlier today and got a case number back via email.  If this gets resolved, I will share the resolution here.

This is the kind of thing that drives people to seek alternatives.  Here I am, willing to PAY to do the right thing, and I can't get no satisfaction.  Hoping Apple resolves this issue, because I really want to do the right thing!

So far, another canned response - I think this means even Apple does not know what the problem is!

This is what they have to say, so far:

I understand that you are receiving error 5002 when attempting to upgrade your music to iTunes Plus. I know how eager you are to have this issue resolved. I will provide you with the information regarding your concern.

Erin, Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.

Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

    Have a nice day!

Stay tuned, will post as I receive.

Make sure iTunes is closed and go into your iTunes folder and delete the following files:

    iTunes Library Extras.itdb

    iTunes Library Genius.itdb

You may even have an additional "Extras" file with a time/date stamp on it and delete that as well.

Of course, please do this at your own risk of losing any preferences that these files may contain. I don't know exactly what these files do, but I've done this fix for a number of iTunes related issues and it works almost every time.

    Hope this helps!

I also did what M1 Studio suggested and it works!

fyi I had recently updated my iTunes to 10.7 to support my new iPhone5 so perhaps that is the connection?

I had the same problem -- first when I tried to download a free song, then after I signed out and it would not let me sign in again. Wow, a quick and easy solution -- thanks M1! Apple moderators, please take note.

Erin, see below -- M1's solution worked for at least four of us.
