iPhoneIf he taps the home button, it should give him an option to start over. Then he can select English.

iPhoneBut the first step is the language screen. Even if he can't read the options in German, the top option would be for English.

Mac App StoreIf the iPad is setup and in German, perhaps you can walk him through this article to change the language to English.

Jun 15, 2012 9:39 AM in response to stevejobsfan0123by Stressed daughter,From what I can understand, in the beginning he was stuck on the language screen. It came up English and he selected that but the screen did not move on. In trying to get further with this screen he said all these languages were floating in screen and at this point I think he mistakenly selected German. Now he says when he starts over it says in German at the bottom of the screen configure in German, he selects that but then cannot understand the instructions.
Without having done the basic setup is there any way to restore?

iPhoneOK, so, those "floating languages" are just background images. Actually, it's just "welcome" in all different languages. At the bottom, he should see this:
At the bottom, it says English, Espanol, etc. When he hits "Start Over" by tapping the home button, it should present him with a more complete list of languages, and English should be the second from the top.

Any idea why he got stuck after selecting English? He said the screen had an arrow on r/h side after the word English but that he couldn't get any further. I'm confused though as when he starts over it comes up configure in German

iPhoneI'm assuming he's talking about the white arrow in the blue button. I'm honestly not sure why that wasn't working for him, and I wouldn't know unless I was there with him setting it up. Anyhow, I also found out that if you turn the phone off (hold the power button until the red slider appears and slide it across the screen) and then turn it back on again, it resets so that the top option is English, and his screen should look identical to the one I posted in my previous post.
