MobileMe- About moving to iCloud

There is no iDisk with iCloud. You need to download all your iDisk files to your computer. You will need to find a third-party service to store your files online such as SugarSync, ADrive, or MediaFire.

I assume they will be easily downloadable once I buy a compatible device...?

You can download files from the MobileMe iDisk on any Mac. Just make sure you are signed in at System Preferences>MobileMe and mount your iDisk on the Desktop (command-shift-i). You don't need to buy a new computer to do that. You can then download from that, and you should be doing that as soon as possible - you have a fortnight before the contents of your iDisk are deleted.

If you have a lot of files, don't try to download them all at once - work in reasonably sized batches.
