When I scan a document I have problems locating the file on the computer. Once I located the file I attempted to save in pages 09 but it didn't work. And I can't seem to even copy a scanned document to paste into pages. As an example I would like to scan all of my loose recipes and assemble in pages. But can't figure out how to do this.
Anyone have any experience with scanning that could provide some guidance. Thanks very much.
Ok. First JPEG is an image format so your son seeing it as a picture is correct. I don't use Image Capture, I use VueScan but I've got Image Capture running and it looks pretty straight forward.
Start Image Capture and select your scanner, press the "show details" button, once the scanner is warmed up you'll see drop down boxes on the right that will allow you to make several selections. You can tell IC where to store your scans, and in what format, for documents select PDF. Click scan and you should end up with a PDF in the folder you selected.
Image Capture is nice for free, pretty good in fact, but you might want to take a look at VueScan, there's a free demo you can download and try if you'd like.
Hello Mike. Thank you for your note. We spent an extended period today working with Apple folks via telephone attempting to get the scanner to work. I had been using the scanner strickly for photos. However, we recently purchased an iPad and wanted to make our Mac & laptop compatible with the iPad. So we upgraded our two machines from Leopard to Lion about a week ago. But we couldn't get the scanner to work. After 90 minutes worth of discussions and attempting a variety of things, Apple folks suggested we use Image Capture (had been using Navigator for photo scanning) during today's conversation. So I'm new to this "program" (and obviously not computer literate). The one document I was able to scan saved the document in or as "jpeg". However, when I sent the document to my son it appeared as a "picture" and he couldn't print it. So I haven't been able to save in pages.
Does this provide you with enough information to understand the issue? As I mentioned I'm not computer literate so I'm struggling to describe (or solve) this problem on my own.
Renata, a little more info needed. What software are you using to scan? What format are your scans saved in? How did you get the scan into Pages? Finally which version of the Mac S are you running?

Forgot to mention that you can open your PDF scans in Pages, no copying and pasting necessary.
