It's not just for iTunes though, there are other native apps like Netflix, 3rd party apps can stream from IOS devices using airplay (if compatible) and then mirroring.

I was just getting ready to buy an Apple TV. I am glad I read this first.
I do need to be able to surf the internet.
Does anyone know which other devices ( similar to Apple TV ) let you surf the net?

Jul 24, 2012 6:15 PM in response to Bill H.by vazandrew,As this is a forum for resolving technical issues with Apple TV you may not get an answer to that question. As I said you can mirror your display provided your hardware is compatible (Mac mirroring coming with the next version of OSX) in order to browse using your HDTV.
There are devices that have the function natively but they cost more and the browsing experience leaves a lot to be desired. Best to do some research and find out what suits your needs.
