What does 5G mean in terms of usage?

I'm not very computer literate when it come to terms like 5G. I just purchased the ipad. AT&T has a plan with 5G. If I plan only to check e-mails at work, take some photos and play games. How long will the 5G last per month? Or is this a question with too many variables/

Thank you

5G could also mean that AT&T aren't advertising 5GB correctly, in which you receive 5 gigabytes of downloads for your phone per month.

And if you find yourself usually on Wi-Fi anyway, 5GB should last a while. I have a 2.5GB data plan and have only gone over it once, and that was when I spent a month without any Wi-Fi connections at all

A 5GB monthly data plan will give you a lot of capacity. Your post suggests you will be a light user so you should opt for a lower allowance and hence cheaper plan if one is available. Being a non-US user I'm not familiar with AT&T's pricing structure for the iPad.

I get by on a 1GB monthly plan as I mainly use my home network or free wifi hotspots, only using cellular when out of range of these.

I don't think the OP is referring to 5G which may or may not be the moniker of the next generation of mobile communications!
