Audio input on 13inch MacBook Pro Mid 2012

In technical specifications of 13inch MacBook Pro Mid 2012, It is written that there is "Combined audio line in/out (digital/analog)".

But, I could not find "Line Input" and "S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Input" in system profiler of store's macbook 13.

I want to record music from CS-tuner with optical interface.

Can I record with MacBook Pro 13?

I'm also having the same problem, but when I looked at the spec and in the booklet it says "audio in/out", which indicates to me that it is a function. It also would seem odd for Apple to put this feature in older MacBook Pro models and not have it featured in this newer one.

All online guides say you have to go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Go to "Input" tab and select "Use Audio For" and select an input rather than an output. My MacBook doesn't have this option, however.

Seems very strange to me, but I am also having trouble with Voice Commands on my MacBook as well :/

Follow the link and scroll down and it will tell you that the port is a 'headphone' port. But I had the same problem where I looked in the booklet and it said that it was an audio input/output.

Going to have to buy a line in that connects via USB to get this functionality now :/ quite disappointed really.

You have to connect the spliter to mac with your mic already connect, most times mac connect without any problem but if didn't try disconnect, logout, login and reconnect. I have a problem that my addapter brocke the solder inside the 3,5mm male connector but i cut the exterior plastic and soldering that again and now works perfectly. What mic are you trying to connect? I connect both of my electric guitars to mac and iphone and both work fine with garage band, iphone is much more easyer to connect than mac. Setup your mic volume to max and try your spliter on iphone with voice memos or other app to make shure your addapter work. I have not shure if mic apear on setings but try directly on garageband normaly works fine.

Make shure your spliter is mic and sterio spliter and not a simple sterio 1 to 2 way adapter.

That adapter have to work most people who want a cheaper solution use that but if you want other solution you can use a guitar to usb adapter. I don't have one but already see lot of people using that.
