Help with \r \b in c for the mac

Hi all,

In the book " Learn C on the mac" they talk about \r \b.

Their explanation is:

\r causes the cursor to move to the beginning of them same line. This allows you to draw some text and then overwrite the same text.

\b is a backspace character. Using it has the same effect as pressing the delete key while you are typing: it erases the last character typed.

When using the \r he goes to the next line (in the terminal his behaviour is like the discription above).

When using the \b I get ¿ and then go to the next command (also in the terminal his behaviour is normal).
