Honestly, at 2880 x 1800 on windows everything looks tiny and text is barely readable at anything further than "laptop on lap" distance.

Aug 4, 2012 3:36 PM in response to Tris91by Tris91,Ok I know what the problem was.
I never had problems at all with the card driver. It is my Cinema HD Display that casues problems: When I unplugg it my resolution of the retina macbook is perfect but with my Cinema HD It is not.
It is a Apple Cinema HD Display 24" Mid 2009.
Strange is, that with my old MBP Mid 2010 the resolution was much better of the Display than it is now with the Retina...
It can either be a problem with the boot camp driver for my display or it is the the new nvidia driver.
Edit: Ok I found this:
So in short, Windows can't handle the retina resolution with an external display, because Windows "don't know Retina". Hopefully Apple brings a fix for this soon.

http://www.techf5.com/1882/increase-text-size-on-windows-7-computer/
Since I am using my external Display only in windows, this change helped me much. Just because of curiosity I turned on both displays (retina and external): Well, The elements on the retina display are almost invisbly small now but the external is perfect. So for me this is a good solution, although I know this is not the best. Because you will have to use your external display only and have to turn off the retina display in the nvidia settings.

I am doing exactly what you said. I have the english version of nvidia and i'm copying the .inf file from edwin's post but i get the failed message on the nVidia installer. Does it matter that I'm doing this from within the windows on VMware Fusion 4.1?

Aug 19, 2012 9:53 AM in response to Tris91by Vengali,Ya, I did that way back and it looked okay, but text was still tiny for browsing. What finally made using 2880 x 1800 in Windows 7 bearable for me was using IE. I was using Firefox and everything is eyeball-bleedingly tiny. I read somewhere that IE looked good in bootcamp windows 7, tried it out, and it actually looks great. I set it to 200% size; that, in addition to setting text size in Windows 7 to 150%, makes the everything look sharp and actually readable.

I'm not sure. I did it in bootcamp--I created the partition mainly for gaming and I heard that you should definitely choose bootcamp over Parallels or any VM solution for that purpose. Is it failing at recognizing the hardware?

Aug 24, 2012 6:21 PM in response to samueldethierryby Foozbot,Has anyone hear anything new on this from Apple or NVIDIA? NVIDIA is supposed to be updating their drivers next week, hopefully it with either support our new card, or apple will release theirs around the same time.

Aug 27, 2012 6:25 PM in response to samueldethierryby Hanuman,Hi everybody. I've been following this thread but haven't chimed in yet with my experience. But now all this is all moot, as Nvidia has released a new beta that works with the 650m (at least on the RetinaMBP, haven't tried the other) without tweaking or hacking.
Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-winvista-306.02-beta-driver.html
Happy gaming everybody!

Aug 29, 2012 3:12 PM in response to Hanumanby djweissman,Be aware though that you linked the 32-bit version. Make sure to download the 64-bit version if necessary. Works as advertised!

Aug 30, 2012 7:24 AM in response to djweissmanby Hanuman,Good catch. I thought the drivers had binaries for both 32 and 64-bit. Here's the link for the 64-bit version. And everybody using a MBP SHOULD be using 64-bit version of Windows, by the way! ;-)

Sep 23, 2012 8:41 AM in response to Hanumanby Christofury,Not moot. The driver still doesn't work, I just downloaded the most recent (sept 13th) version. When I launch the .exe it still tells me that there is no compatible hardware.
