default fan control
I installed fan control on my macbook pro 15''(late 2011). Can anyone tell me default fan control settings? And is there a chance that changing fan settings can damage my macbook? Thank you

If you delete your fan control program, I would think that the default setting would apply. Just in case, you can do a SMC reset which should take care of that:

Ciao.
The minimum fan settings for current MBSs appears to be 2000 rpm and the maximum appears to be 6200 rpm. My position is that Mac engineers have set the fans to work at the speeds required for the hardware that has been installed and for the temperatures that said hardware can produce. I do not feel that any fan control is required. Running them at unnecessary higher speeds will only shorten fan life. A cooling pad seems a better approach in aiding the dissipation of heat.
Ciao.
Does anyoe know how to reset te SMC for a 2008 Macbook Pro if I dont have the battery? My original battery died and swelled up so I threw it away... I use the laptop like a desktop now.
I installed Fan Control for a couple of live sound mixing jobs because it was getting REALLY hot and I wanted to keep the fans on max for the whole performance...
Anyway I have deleted fan control now and I cant reset the SMC because part of it requires the battery 😟
I used SMC Fan control and I think it may have led to the cause of a hard drive cable failing. I may have had set the setting too low or it may have been caused by uninstalling it incorrectly. I would be careful if I were you. If you have SMC Fan control there are certain steps you have to take to properly remove it.
Thank you for your answer. I decided to delete program, but i reed somewhere that deleting it wont set fan settings to default. What I need to do to set it on default? Thank you
