hi can about offer any help with this? there seems to be different solutions on the webb - try a full data erase and reset but still not working

    Basic troulbeshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

    Try each of these in order until the problem is resolved.

     

    If they do not resolve the issue, then there is a hardware issue and  you'll want to take the device to Apple.

    thanks diesel - tried your suggestions without luck - guess it's a new phone I gather it's exspensive to get this problem fixed

    Out of warranty replacement is $149 in teh US.  Depending on how long you've had the device, where you're at in your contract, and what subsidies your carrier may offer, you might find that it's a better deal to upgrade to a 4S for just a little bit more.
