At 435 cycles your battery is well past it's expected life of 300 cycles. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1519

If you have a MacBook with the removable battery you can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody use the same battery.

Black Batteries http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=macbook+black+battery&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_sop=12 &_dmpt=Laptop_Batteries&_odkw=macbook+white+battery&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0. m 270.l1313

Or for $129 from The Apple Store http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA566LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

I have a Early 2011 Macbook Pro. According to the list on the Apple Support page, I should get 1000 cycles out of my battery. My battery has only gone through 289 cycles and as of two days ago, I now only get 2 hours of charge out of it after letting the battery charge for about 20 hours.

I followed the "Before Resetting the SMC" instructions here and my battery meter jumped up to 6:31 remaining:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Then the meter dropped back down to 1:54, then up to 3:29, then up to 5:40. Now its sitting at 4:45. So I don't know what to think. If the battery level keeps fluctuating like this, I'm going to have to try the "Restting the SMC" instructions found on that page.

What's up with this behavior?

This did the trick for me as the instructions on the apple site are slightly wrong.

The credit goes to a guy named Chris who posted a video on youtube that I can't find now...

1. shut down your mac

2. unplug your mag

3. remove your battery

4. wait 5 secs

5. press the power button for 5 sec (count out loud 1- 1000 2-1000...)

6. wait 5 secs

THIS IS WHERE THE DIFFERENCE IS!!!

7. Plus your power mag back in

8. Wait for it to turn green

9. put the battery back in

10. wait for the mag to turn orange...

11. power back your mac

12. and like magic it starts charging again

My problem is a little different. Got a new battery to replace the old and I've had it plugged in for over an hour and no change in the amount of charge. I've reset the SMC and did what admincalgary suggested, however, the indicator light never turned green after I plugged it in. It stayed amber. Here's my battery diagnostics:
