I just bought the ner iPad, and à smart cover.. But there isnt à setting fot it to activate the lockig mechanism. I have looken under settings>general.

It is Settings > General > iPad Cover Lock/Unlock
It should be right under Passcode Lock.
It is not there.. But Ive done some reading in forums, and apperently the new iPad Only works with new smart covers.. But is there à way around it or can Apple fix the programming so the setting Will be optional always?!

The setting should show up once you attach your smart cover for the first time.

We are users like yourself, if you wish to speak to Apple, use the feedback link at the bottom of the page.
If isossible that you have a faulty smart cover. I have seen this happen to a couple of users. If you have a small magnet - a refrigerator magnet perhaps - try running that along the side of the iPad and see if the setting appears when you do that.
This is based on the assumption that you did indeed buy the new iPad as you have stated.
I dont have the Smart cover setting..!? How do I get it?
