How can I gift an app that I already purchased?

It seems like a plan that would work for regular apps (thanks for the tip). I think what's causing it to be more difficult for me, is that the iCreate Magazine app is free, and I want to "gift" one of the in-app-purchases of a particular issue of the magazine. Oh well. Maybe later. Great tip though. Thanks.

I'm running App Store 1.2.2 and *cannot* gift 'Day One' to someone who can really use it. I tried signing out, etc. and it STILL tells me its already on the computer and I get only 'Share' buttons. I live in Canada so maybe it's a North American licensing thing. Makes me mad. 😠

I've contacted the company. Maybe I can buy it from them and they can give her a serial number or something. Grrrrrrr...

Same version as you both on iPad and on iPhone ... 6.1.3(10B329) Just checked gifting from my iPad, same result. No gift option.

You are misunderstanding what is being said. We are not wanting to *give away* apps we have already paid for. I can gift any app in the App Store EXCEPT for an app I have already purchased. So, if I have a friend and I want to purchase an app for them and give that as a gift I can UNLESS I have the app. If I have an app, and I love it, why can I not then pay for the app again but gift it. It makes no sense seeing as if I already have and use an app I actually know if it's useful and if someone I KNOW would benefit from it. This thread is NOT about trying to GIVE AWAY FOR FREE apps we already have. It's about knowing we can gift any app in the App Store we wish to except for apps we have purchased ourselves, which seems ridiculous

How about creating a new Apple ID and doing it from there? No experience, but it seems likely?

And just in response to giving a gift card, I do this often, but it's not practical for a $0.99 app

The iTunes store on the PC is the same ..... where the price should be it has *Download* because I already have the app. Clicking the arrow to the right of that DOES NOT have *Gift App* .... sorry

For what it's worth, I am doing this for Apps ..... not music. Don't know if that makes a difference. Definetly no *GIFT* option for me with anything I have already purchaced.
