Q: How can I gift an app that I already purchased?

I'm trying to gift an app that I have already purchased for myself.  But I do not see a way to doing so.  Since I have already purchased the app, when I am in the Appstore it just shows "Install" instead of the price of the app.

I have gifted apps before, but wanted to gift one that I had purchaed for myself that I thought my son-in-law you like to have.  Wouldn't it seem plausible that apps we have purchased and have used that we find useful would be apps we would like to gift to other people.  The way it works now is that I can only gift apps I have no experience using! I wish Apple would fix this because it doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Click Sign Out in top-left corner of iTunes Store. Then search for App to gift and click the arrow adjacent the price (which displays as you are not logged-in) you can then Send Gift.

    I have a related but different question. I bought an app that only opens on ipads. Not having an ipad I would like to give it away, that is, transfer my licence to a friend, deleting it from my account.

     

    Any suggestions?

    It seems like a plan that would work for regular apps (thanks for the tip).  I think what's causing it to be more difficult for me, is that the iCreate Magazine app is free, and I want to "gift" one of the in-app-purchases of a particular issue of the magazine.   Oh well.  Maybe later.   Great tip though.  Thanks.

    I'm running App Store 1.2.2 and *cannot* gift 'Day One' to someone who can really use it. I tried signing out, etc. and it STILL tells me its already on the computer and I get only 'Share' buttons. I live in Canada so maybe it's a North American licensing thing. Makes me mad.  

     

    I've contacted the company. Maybe I can buy it from them and they can give her a serial number or something. Grrrrrrr...
