How do you remove email addresses from autocomplete?

How do I remove email addresses from the autocomplete list in iPhone or iPad Mail apps? I know how to do this in Mac OS X Mail. But the iOS Mail apps don't seem to provide a way to remove old, dead or unwanted email addresses that you don't want autocomplete to list when you start typing in an email address.

You can call it a missing requirement or feature; or you can call it a bug. It is not acceptable, which does not me we can do anything about it except what we are doing here. I poked around and found that people have been telling Apple about this annoying lack in the iOS mail app for many years. Perhaps it might be a part of the iOS 6 release. We can pray and hope. Which is apparently all we can do.

LRich3001: I have not had any problems with autocomplete on email addresses in Mac OS X, the regular Mac Operating System Mail application. Just use "Window --> Previous Recipients" from the Mac Mail menu. This brings up a report of all your remembered email addresses. Once you delete them from this list, they will not appear during autocompletion as you type email addresses. Of course, if you retype one of them, they will be added back to that list. But you can always edit that recipient list.

MY PROBLEM is that iOS, the operating system for Apple mobile devices has no feature that allows you to edit the recipients list, from what I am being told on this community forum.

Apparently Apple users have been requesting this for years, since the invention of iOS, and Apple has not yet provided this feature. Also, it appears that Apple chooses to respond to user's requests with silence.

Friend,

This is not a bug. A you said before, it is just an auto filling, the iOS search in your contacts list some information that is similar as you are writting. This is not a previous recipients, like in your MAC.

For an example, if in your contacts list you have: Steve Jobs

stevejobs@apple.com,

when you start to write St.... in email, the iOS will automatically brings to the list: Steve Jobs

stevejobs@apple.com

Check itt by yourself. I hope it will clarify your question and cure your headache.

Not for me - the problem is now MUCH worse. Yes, I can now easily remove the few addresses that I've actually recently used, but they're the ones I want to stay. What I want to delete is the tons of email addresses that are now there because of the integration with Facebook - email addresses I never expect to use directly. Is there any way to get rid of THEM?
