Itunes won't recognize my iPhone 4........Can't find a solid solution.

I'm using an iMac with OSX 10.6.8, an iPhone 4 with 5.1.1 and iTunes 10.

I plugged my iPhone 4 into the USB and launched iTunes, it doesn't recognize there is an iPhone plugged in. I plugged in my iPod, another iPhone and another device into the computer and on multiple ports to ensure it wasn't a hardware issue or a USB issue. All other devices were recognized. I tried plugging in my iPhone on my girlfriends computer and it still wasn't recognized. I believe this is a phone issue completely.

I tried reinstalling itunes several times, also deleted the mobile device files and restored the phone to its defaults and nothing has helped. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? Your help would be greatly appreciated! I've seen many posts on similar issues but none really matching what ive been dealing with! Thank you!

If this is happening on multiple computers, and you've tried the steps outlined in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591, and tried using a known good usb cable and tried cleaning the dock connector at the bottom of the phone with a dry toothbrush and examining it for bent pins, etc., and tried restoring the phone as new, and it still isn't recognized then it's probably time to back it up and take it to the Apple store for evaluation and possible replacement.
