3+ year old Macbook overheating and bubbling at the base... Help?

I bought my Macbook in 2009. I recently noticed that, from time to time, it runs hotter than it ever did previously. It has also sprouted a few bubbles at the base.

There is no plastic covering the vent, and I have not changed my usage habits. In fact, I've reduced my usage quite a bit in terms of the programs I run on a regular basis.

I read that Apple was replacing the base on Macbooks owned for 2 years or less. Does anyone know if they've extended that timeframe?

If the fan runs on high constantly, try an SMC reset first.

Dust can build up in the cooling passages over time.

Newer OS, Flash web design, and software updates may be more processor-intensive, thus generating more heat.

The bottom case replacement program was based upon purchase date for a period of two years, in this Apple document dated 05-27-2011:
