MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

I've seen this today, and the Apple Support Center asked me 3 days to analyse the problem. I'll take there on monday, for that I can work on the weekend.

Two weeks with a U$ 2.500 notebook to take to warranty services is absolutely unacceptable. I had PCs for 20 years, DELL, HP, Samsung and I never had any kind of problems, I just came to Apple by the quality, usability and everything else and in 2 weeks I already have to take the computer to an Apple Center, congrats to me.

I took it to the support service, and they was replaced the entire display including the aluminum cover. As I said, the panel that had problem was a Samsung, and now I have a LG panel. I didn't saw any issue about colors or any what else, and the ghosting has gone.

The service was taken in 7 days, very fast.

I'll be in alert for the entire warranty period, and after. I wouldn't like to need to buy Apple Care but I'm seriously thinking about to do.

Thank you guys

I'm not sure the brand or manufacture matter. It seems the earlier displays by LG were problematic, but it seems they are okay now. And now, as geekpot stated, he had a Samsung with problems.

I also have a 2012 retina MBP. I previously had the ghosting problem with my display (LG). They replaced it with another LG display and it is fine now. I've been using it for over two weeks and I've not had any issues with it. The colour is good also - the whites are white and not yellow as some others have experienced.

Geekpot: if you're considering keeping your machine for at least 3 years, I'd get the warranty if you don't have any other coverage (like with your credit card). These new machines have some very expensive parts in them that might require the replacement of a motherboard or screen. ie. if you'r ram went, they would have to replace the entire motherboard because the ram is soldered onto the motherboard.

Not like they used to make them, but I guess it cuts cost/increases profits for Apple.

I have the same issue as everyone. Images get burned into the screen after only a few minutes. My wife took it to the Southlake TX Apple Store and they ran a test and said that the display is faulty, but it would cost 310 dollars to fix. I have had the computer since June 12th 2013, so the one year warranty is up. I normally wouldn't raise concern but as this forum proves there are numerous other people complaining about the issue for hundreds of pages..

Guess i'm out of luck unless it gets recalled. Make sure to send as many emails and suggestions as possible.

Just to report. I got back my MacBook Pro with replaced display two weeks ago, and the problem is gradually returning. Every day it becomes more evident, I will wait a few more days, even why I need to work and stay another week without my computer going to screw my deliveries. but it shows that the problem is serious, I hope the new iMacs with retina display are not as problematic.
