I'm wondering if anybody has had any luck exchanging at Best Buy for a Samsung screen. I'm on day 14 of my 30 day return period. Am I better off just returning it and waiting for Samsung stock (assuming all new builds will b e Samsung) or trying to exchange?
I have a week 36 LG
RETURN IT. If you have IR, return it immediately. I might even return it just because to be frank. It was a nightmare getting mine replaced (well, it's not even replaced yet, I just have a repair order waiting). Look at what other people are going through...
And now...If that wasn't bad enough, we have a few people even saying to get over it on here. LOL. WHAT?! It isn't normal and it is bad. The people posting that it's not bad (one or two I scanned over real quick) obviously haven't seen the issue. It's not good if you do any kind of photo editing or coding. Which I do both actually...Now, if I was a different type of user, say I just listened to music and watched movies...Maybe browsed the web a bit. Well, I actually see the IR in web pages where there's gray backgrounds (any kinda modal dialogue box that shades the background and you'll see the IR IF there was another window there before). Anyway, IF I was a different type of user maybe I wouldn't notice it that much. I would still see it though. But I'm not and you can't say then that I'm not a "normal" user.
The entire machine is branded for the beautiful display...Your photos will look better this that and the other thing. Well then?! Photo editing is "normal" use according to Apple. You simply WILL have a hard time editing photos with IR. You can not accurately adjust the exposure on images or dodge/burn parts of an image because if you had a brighter view of it before hand that you were working on and then zoom in to a darker area to do work...You most definitely WILL see the IR and will NOT be able to accurately correct the image until ... in my experience 10, 15 minutes later when the IR has completely faded.
If you're coding and you program with a dark background (easier on the eyes) then you WILL see other windows burned in while you're trying to type code. As a web developer...Let's just put it this way, I almost don't need to flip between windows to write some code and then see what it looks like in the browser If the IR would just update haha.
Word processing, writing code, etc. Those tasks involve having the same window in the same position on your screen for long periods of time. When I say long, I mean up to an hour or so before I flip the window to something else. Word processing may be longer. That is NORMAL use.
Use the screen saver more? ARE THEY INSANE? That means "normal" use would be to quick look at a web page or read half your e-mail then flip on the screen savor for 5 minutes then go back and read the other half of your e-mail.
If I "used a screen saver more" to not see any IR, then I would never be able to finish writing code.
It is an extreme distraction to see the IR and, again, in the case of photo editing it actually limits your ability to perform work. So it's more than a distraction.
No. For anyone with doubt, this is not normal.
I can't believe people posting here in support of that KB article and Apple's attempt at trying to sweep this under the rug as "normal" .... That's horrible. Oh! One more thing, IF it was so "normal" then explain why all the screens don't do it? Yea. Any more geniuses out there?
