Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Well what i am about to write here is entirely a paradoxical situation ... I have a week27 LG screen rMBP ..OK i admit i started to note down image retention on the screen after a month usage...the IR was pretty bad ...usually after three minutes it use to sets in  .. But heres the interesting part the IR is regressing its subsiding away ..i mean what the ??? i have done alll the test ..even left a checkered board image for full 30 mins and the IR is almost undetectable ..you need to zoooom in and have to become squint to even see the image retention...and on aperture n iphotos the IR is almost undetectable  ... i mean does this IR goes away with time ... And also the plus about my LG screen is that it does not have any yellowish tint no light bleeding nor any dead pixel nor any muras ... so this was the interesting part and my story i want to share here

If that is the case I'd love to keep my LG week 27 with no yellowish tint but slight pink tint...no mura or dead pixel

Guys, just a quick '14 days period' question. Just to make sure, I have 14 days to return the rMBP 'no questions asked" counting from recieving my latest replacement? I hope they don't count it from the date of recieving my original unit (got 4 replacements since then)?

And do you know what if I apply for a return on 14th day, I can still arange the pick up a day or two later? I'm not in the country now so it's a bit problematic...

Went in to another apple store today. This time I fail the test, therefore I'm getting a new screen. I insists that I get the 661-7171 part and not the other. The gentlemen at the bar confirm that 661-7171 was to be order and that the old part number is no longer in production because people keep sending it back. His words not mine. He even go on to say the old part number were manufactured by lg/sharp. I hope this is all true. I will post again to this once I have it back.

I am a photographer too. my Macbook is 4 weeks old. it got progressively worse.

I tried to ignore the issue, but yes, I can see it on my photos. It can also bee seen on Blue skies.

And No, Apple only replaces it if fails it's 3:00 / 1:00 minute test. Did not matter what I said or showed to them, although they could clearly see the ghosting on my screen.

Blue skies?  I'll have to keep an eye out for that.  So far its been about a month and it hasn't changed from the mild IR I've had since week 2.

Just received my week 39 build #523. It has an LG screen and pretty obvious IR, even at temperatures around 15°C.

There is no work around... unless you want to have a screen saver pop up every minute

Keep calling and trying to get someone else on the phone that is more accomodating to your situation.  Explain how you are a photographer and this is unacceptable for your work.  There really seems like there is a big difference in cooperation depending on who picks up the phone.  I used the "call me" feature on apple's support site and I conveniently got disconnected when I explained the problem.  When I called the main support number the person was very cooperative and understanding.
