Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Look for backlight bleeding around the edges using a black background.  Some have seen pronounced backlight bleeding in some corners.  Also look for dead pixels and mura.  An App called PiXel Check (google it) can help look for dead pixels.

I have some updates on my new MBP (week 40).

Today I tried out several programs that require strong performance.

The IR got worse and from being not severe it became very disturbing! I do think that after few hours of use the IR gets worse like mentioned from several posters.

Here is how bad the IR is on a brand new MBP

Here is a link of a picture that I used for testing:

I think that Steve Jobs would not have allowed things to be handled this way. I am ok with companies doing their best to make good a defective product.  But I am not ok with companies trying to sweep things under the carpet.  Consumers are intelligent and well informed. It'll just make Apple look silly trying to deny this, isn't it.

When Tim Cooks and team proudly unveiled the rMBP to the world, he pitched on the excellent display quality.  However, I could not comprehend how a display with ghosting problems could be considered high quality.  Worst still, I could not understand why Apple subsequently said in its own website that "image persistence" is normal for the rMBP and blamed it on the "IPS" technology that it had adopted. How can Apple tell us that, on one hand, Apple's rMBP is of high quality but on the other hand, flipped to said that an inferior display by way of "Image Persistence" is expected? Had Apple lost touch already?

Simple, if you return it, you maintain control, if you repair it, they take over control. Apple has made it so only people with 14 days have any consumer power and Apple is losing trust by the day. You simply can't trust Apple at the moment. So for me, there's now bloody way I let it go beyond 14 days.

There plenty of examples of people NOT being treated with respect and honestly by Apple once they have your money for longer than 14 days.

Sure there's examples of ethical store personnel but do you want to gamble thousands you'll get one to help you?

    I won't .

Can someone explain why certain messages, in this thread at least, can only be viewed if logged in?

Does Apple flag them or is something else going on that I don't understand?

    Thanks

Got my macbook today after a bit of hassling them. Was going to ignore the manufacturer and just try out my macbook, make sure it was all good, but curiosity got the better of me. So ran the test. LSN, for some reason I am incredibly relieved.

Now how do I unsubscribe from this bad boy thread, i'm getting spammed!
