Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

That looks so bad it looks fake.

It's completely shameful for any company to produce garbage displays like this let alone the richest company in the world.

I just cancelled my order for a 2.6/16/256 because I read on macrumors that they are going to tweak the rmbp soon fixing heat dissipation and a few other things. Do you think it would be wise to wait for that to happen (supposedly happening when the 13 inch comes out) or do you think I should just forget about it and order? I don't have a computer right now btw.

If you believe what you've read at macrumors and you believe what you've read in this thread, you should wait as long as it takes for Apple to FIX these obvious problems.

Besides some dust behind the screen, this is how my brand new rMBP bottom looks like. Today Apple Customer Relations will call me. However I understood, no replacements anymore (this is my 4th) but only refund. Should I send it back?

I also read this on Macrumors

"The report also seems to suggest that Apple will be tweaking the 15-inch model to address a few technical issues such as heat dissipation, but these changes will apparently be made behind the scenes and not be presented to consumers as an updated model."

Ok, a 5th replacement is on the way. Luckily I can keep this one and compare and keep the best.

I can't say enough how amazing Apple's customer service is. I am really happy with that.

Now, as odd as it sounds. I hope the new one won't be a Samsung panel, since I really like this LG.

If that rumor is correct, then that would be great news for those of us quietly and not so quietly waiting on the side line to buy into this model.

Yes, the sad thing is, I think it isn't apple's quality control that failed here, but it is the charger in the box that does it. In my opinion the package box of the rMBP is a bad design.

So the charger dented it?  Maybe Apple designers are getting a little too agressive with the box design?  I like minimal, its better for the environment, but it's should protect the device on it's lonely way to you.  My F1 key on my week or MacBook air is already showing signs of being stuck

    Yes it is the charger.

About the keyboards. Those are either a hit or a mis. Some of the rMBP I received had a creaky keybord. Others where perfect.

Does anyone know what I can do to talk to Apple via Phone for an actual replacement rather than repair, if I do not have Apple Care?

Yes, but is there a line that I call since I don't have Apple Care, I can't call up Apple Care Support?
