Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

Samsung is not the perfect display, all MBPr I saw had dead pixels. People didn't even noticed them, I did a test (put a black background) and saw the dead pixels on ALL my friends macbook retina (all have samsung screens)

Does somebody get a samsung with yellow tinge problem?

I doesn't mean a full yellow color that you can remove with accurate calibration.

I mean a zone that is a little bit yellow respect to the other part of the display.

you can see it if you have a vertical white big line on the display and you can see that it change color at some point of the display or with some orizzonal line that have the same RGB color but you can see them different

So you never even used one?  You just assumed based on this thread that any LG screen is bad and you flipped 7 of them?  Opened the box did the check for the screen manufactorer and then turned it in?  That is persistence. Sorry you never got what you wanted.

1-2 dead pixels you can hardly notice on such resolutin and pixel size. Keep in mind that 1 pixel at 1440x900 on old macbook is composed from 4 other pixels on this display. In fact you just don't notice it unless you look very very careful. I like perfection too and i hate dead pixels but on this particular display i think i can live with 1-2 pixels dead.

Here! I'm from Germany. I had 8 rMBP now I got a Samsung Display... but I also can see this yellow band in middle of the screen. I'm very angry about that!

Do you think it iwill pass into warranty?

I'm not sure :-/ the problem is that maybe the next samsung display will have the same issue.

And I was since Sept 2012 more then 12 times in the apple store... They hate me :-D

"All" of your friends have Samsung displays?

I personally don't know anyone with an rMBP, let alone with a Samsung display.

Are you sure you're not exaggerating?

I can't imagine why you would, but it just seems weird to me.

I do know that I check my Samsung display for IR and dead pixels once per week.

I also use a proper pixel checking program which cycles through black, red, green, blue, and white.

The problems with Samsung retina displays are just the typical run-of-the-mill production defects that all manufacturers experience in their display runs. They're not problems that are specific to or more pronounced in Apple's retina displays. However, the problem with the LG displays is inherent in the design, or at the very least the manufacturing process. They will ALL get IR eventually, mark my words. For those who haven't experienced IR yet, has your machine regularly been run at high-load or consistently experienced high-ambient temperatures? If not, do some gaming or simply wait until the summer-time and let us know if you have IR then. I have zero confidence in LG, especially after hearing about the image retention issues that the new iMac owners are experiencing. LG is a joke.

I understand why he did what he did, because I also have zero confidence in LG. However, I would have kept the machine, especially if it had bad IR (it would have failed Apple's lame-wad test), and taken it in for a screen replacement. So far I have not heard of a single person who's taken their machine in for an IR-related replacement and come back out with another LG panel.

I'm pretty confident that this year rounds of computers are not that great! Even Mac Mini users are complaining about their products and how this is the last straw for them as well. Its just disappointing that they're so big they don't even care about consumers anymore. Maybe when everyone decides to go towards a different route is when they'll start looking into what the problems are.

I think Ubuntu is going to be coming up soon and I'll be following them to their success. To some people that don't know about it, maybe you can start looking into it. Its similar to Mac OS. Ubuntu is another operating system that may interest you and be of some sort of alternative if you don't like Windows.

I echo your sentiment. I've been using Ubuntu for years and it's become a very compelling OS. I prefer the Mint variants myself though. In any case, I like Mac OSX even more, so I'm giving Apple a few more years to get their act together (or back together) with hardware before I make the decision to jump back to non-Apple gear. If I do though, it will likely be a one-way trip to high-end PC laptops running Ubuntu as my primary OS and Windows in a VM. Tim Cook really needs to study the lessons of 90's, because Steve Jobs will not be coming back this time to save the company. There's only one chance to get this right.

I hear ya. Yeah shoot, Apple makes great products and their OS is very nice... and my first product was the rMBP, but I returned it. I mean, I lived off without the product, I can live another year or so without it. So I just settled with a Dell XPS 8500 with i7 Ivy Bridge 3770 3.40 GHz, 12 GB ram, 2 TB HD, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 or $480! Yeah I'm bragging...   I'll run ubuntu until Apple fix these issues.

Please link me. I'm interested in that now... Lol. I could wait out on the MBP for a little while. At 1/4 of the price and "nearly" the same specs, that's unbeatable.

It was from a slickdeals link. I don't think that deal works anymore, but you can read about it. The deal was $1500ish that comes with a 24" UltraSharp Monitor. Apply a coupon -$500 which came out to be $1000, called in to cancel the monitor which was another -$520ish, came out to be spending $480 just for the desktop computer itself. Now they changed it where it is a package. Two days ago, these products were pretty much sold as "separate" order numbers.
