Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

no, mine doesn't have any damage except ghosting, but they still just replace my screen, i think we shouldn't replace screen, bc if class action get success, then we hav enough evidance to show apple that we have problem with the screen, then there is no doubt that apple will give us whole new one

After 2 months and 2 weeks I am starting to get the "ghosting."  So I scheduled an appointment with the Geniuses and went in.

I spoke with a lovely Genius named Rose, and she told me that they can fix the computer no problem it will just be 7-10 days and that I should leave my computer there...

I don't know about you guys but being a college student I can't do that. Ever. I have everything backed up and can use campus computers but I have programs installed, my contacts list, old emails, etc.

My question is: Is there any way that I can get them to just replace the computer since I am still in warranty and have the extended care? I want to be able to walk into the store and give them a faulty computer that they can later sell as refurbished and walk out with a computer that is guaranteed to work.

Han_Solo_ - they wanted to do the same with me, I was told it might take up to 14 days. I told my lovely Genius that I can't just leave my computer for that long but she didn't change her mind. I left, I thought about it and came back after like 20mins and I asked for replacement. Store manager came, very nice again, she found a free technician and spare part and they replaced screen in 2 hours. But that was after my laptop had first screen replaced and was away for 6 working days. Go back to them.

Im having the same problem took my unit to two apple stores, one in USA and one in Vancouver. They both had the same reply and will not acknowledge the ghosting on my unit. I'm looking for a replacement and AppleCare will not replace unit. They only will allow a one time screen replacement, even though my unit is under warranty.  My MacBook pro retina cost me over 3000 plus apple care. AppleCare ***** and I'm glad they are being suited, and wish for a better outcome. I have to speak to corporate department on Monday!!!

I went to Simply Computing at Willowbrook Mall in Langley and they had my display replaced with a Samsung panel (part # 661-7171) within 3 hours. Call them and talk to them.

I understand why, but, honestly, replacement is really your best option to get the machine you paid for. I did it and I don't regret it. I haven't heard of one person that's received another LG as a replacement panel. They've all been Samsung.
