Did you try re-calibrating it? If not, please do and let us know if it improves. Mine looks great after calibrating it.

How did you the calibrating? With the assistant of the Mac or with a hardware calibrator?

I have a Samsung now and I can see a tendency to the yellow compare to the LG.

Is there any way to find out what display I have on fully updated OSX 10.8.3. ?

I did try commands from Internet but they didn't work, and they say that apple disabled the function.

    Hi vujke,

Try this one, it worked fine for me. Take attention because maybe there are some characters when you Copy&Paste which can change.

    ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

    HI FrancisDaza,

I did try this exact command, but without success. I did try to retype it to, to be logged like in terminal, but nothing, I just get empty line.

    Hi again,

I can only suppose that must be a sort of permissions, try it typing the same command but with "sudo" before, just like this:

    sudo ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

    Hi again,

I just tryed this, but result was the same. Any idea why?

Sorry because maybe it's going to sound like obvius but: you have a MBP Retina, right?

It's pretty weird that this command is not working for you... I also had problems pasting the command a few times... try retyping a last time, if not... I can not say anything else... :-/

The command only works on 15" rMBPs. If you have a 13" one it won't work for you.

I own MacBook Pro 13 Retina (base model), and I thought that command work on every retina model.

Is there any way to find out display manufacturer on this model?

I guess the IR and other problems are noticed on mentioned model too.

I'm not aware of a way to find out on the 13" model.  If you look back on this thread (I know...a lot of reading), you'll find countless people who were also trying to figure out the 13" manufacturer and couldn't.

    Hi Guys,

I'm from the Netherlands, I bought my mbp retina in India due to a business trip. After a while I did stumble on the problem about "ghosting" and did the online test. After like testing 30 seconds of showing the checkered screen, you already could see the problem. I went downtown in my hometown to a Apple retailer and described the problem. They took it in and without any problems they did replace the screen, and tested if it was a LG or a Samsung. Bingo, I was lucky, they did sent a Samsung screen. Tomorrow I'm able to pick up my mbp and will test it again while I'm in the store. I'll keep you posted.

As it seems now, the after sales does handle it perfectly and I might be able to enjoy my mbp again without any ghosting.
