Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

I first noticed this after my MBP [Retina] had gone to sleep, but: when returning to the login screen (since I have it set to require a password whenever the computer is idle long enough) I noticed what appeared to a very faint ghosting primarily noticeable on darker backgrounds.

After messing around with it a bit, there seems to be a fairly consistent in-display ghosting that occurs without much time at all; I was able to leave my screen on (a little above half-brightness) for about 10-15 minutes and the ghosted "burn" would be of the screen I left it on (which I deliberately reconfigured so that everything would be a new position).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal thing that I just have to get used to? It's not really noticeable at all in standard use.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

    Vergonzoso.

I´ve been reading about this issue some time, because i´m experiencing it too. It´s said, that samsung display´s are more reliable than LG´s. Well, my screen is Samsung, and i have this issue...

I´m going to the apple store today (Made an appointment), to see what they can do about it.

A todo esto, soy Español (Europa).

are the new sja2s as bad as the sja1s? really. i used to read this thread alot and finally decided to return my MBPr in september 2012 and wait for an update. still waiting...

but after coming back to the thread and reading though some pages again i cant see as many complains as before.

Can some one tell me if you actually know that SJA2s are as bad as the SJA1s?

If you are asking whether or not SJA2s have ghosting problems, the answer I am afraid is yes they do.
Personally I had the experience with two SJA2 panels both of them exhibited ghosting effect, though not discernable to a novice, on the first day of use, which based on the accounts of posts here in the discussion forum would deteriorate over time.

I had to send the first machine back and for the second one I got it changed at an Apple store.
Once again for the record, if you want to see the ghosting for a machine right out of box, you may run a benchmark and have a still photo preferably a checkboard on for 30 mins.
you would see faint lines as well as ghosting.

Reading through this forum some people stated that they are better than SJA1s which is probably true but still the ghosting is present.

FWIW, while I seem to be in the minority, I started testing my SJA2 equipped 2013 rMBP using the Mitch Malone IR test protocol as soon as I bought it and have not seen any symptoms of IR, though perhaps I am a novice so it's not discernible to me. One thing I think I do differently is not run it at a high brightness setting. Another is to always use either the maximum resolution accessible from  Display preferences or greater than that resolution using Eye-Friendly Display Resolution Switcher.

its just my impression that almost every SJA1 was faulty and now it doesnt seem like SJA2s are as bad even though it looks like they too have the issue. i would expect this thread to be filled with SJA2 complains since they were introduced in february.

Could also be that people have replaced to a samsung or have given waiting for further updates up like me.

I would expect a flood of SJA2 complaints also, and if the solution was to get a Samsung replacement, we'd hear about that too. But, given the length of this thread, SJA2 complaints appear to be a trickle, not a flood. And since I believe the 2013 rMBP was an improvement (beyond the speed bump) over the 2012 original, there was reason to go for it.

also LG panel and 1.1 years

Out of curiosity, are you using the "Best for Retina Display" setting in Display preferences? If so, what happens to the IR if you switch to the "More Space" setting? And in that setting, when you create more IR, what happens when you switch back?
