So nearly 9 months on from getting my mbpr 15inch and after 4 genius bar tests, image retention that has got worse each month, 7-8 calls to customer services, emails telling me that all I need to do is run a screen saver or sleep on the display whenever it appears I was today told there is nothing apple can do to repair/replace my screen even though i have proved image persistance to genius bar and have 3 months left on my warranty. What they decided to tell me was that i should have more luck going back to the shop i brought it from if it wasn't an apple store and claim a full refund under the consumer act... or if it was paid for by credit card i should claim through that for defective goods... this coming from a senior customer services manager based in ireland for apple customer relations. What a bunch of bulls**t.
So basically apple are taking no responsibility for image retention whatsoever, each call i have made over the last few months I was told call back if it gets worse and you have you have a years warranty so if you want it sorted before the end of the year then just call us up or pop into the store. Yeah like that has worked.
I have no idea why in such a bad case they can still deny the existance of ir on my mac, deny any forums exist with multiple posts about the problem and think that by putting a page up about image persistance fixes they can use this as their answer, where on the post does it say image persistance deteriorates over time and how far does it go? If they knew all about it in early 2013 when the page about image persistance was first created why when I called was I not told it would worsten over time, why is there nothing on that page about it and how far it would go and the final concequences?
Pretty pi**ed to be honest that for a sh*t load of money I have feel I have been royally screwed and there is nothing I can do about it. It's got the point I cant do any editing on dark screens and resort to turning the mac off and using my 4 year old pc with lcd monitor for all my photo editing and deisgn work.
Has anyone had any luck with a replacement after the 14 day period or withing the 12 month warranty?
