I would definally call apple corprate and tell them how you were treated. I can understand them not being able to fix the machine for free, but you are a customer and should be treated with respect. If I ran Apple I would want to know if I had employees that were damaging my brand.

Just got my new rMBP 13". No IR detected. Screen is amazingly perfect. It's my first MBP and I am not very familiar with OSX yet. If someone can help me to detect my screen model I will post it here. The manufacturer in ColorSynk seems to be empty.

I copied and pasted my serial number into the website:

    http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php

Both times it came up as unsupported and then locked me out from any more checks for the next 24 hours.

Long time lurker, been waiting for Haswell, hoping all this would clear up by the next revision.

Just got my 15"/2.6/16GB/1TB/750m and, unfortunately, I got an LG screen. However, as a couple others have reported, by model # is

    LP154WT1-SJE1

So, it appears we have a new LG version. I just ran Marco's grid test for 10 minutes at full brightness. If I try to convince myself I'm seeing something I can maybe see the outlines of one square, but honestly I don't really see anything. Very unsure what I'm going to do. Appears lots of people have gotten Samsungs out of box on the Haswell and had hoped to get one myself. But with no IR and a new panel version I'm considering keeping it. I also bought AppleCare so am covered worst case.

Really wish this wasn't an issue to worry about with these machines.

Updated my computer to mavericks and it sat on the same screen updating for an hour, did not have any IR after the update completed. Maybe this is one of the very few good LG screens

    Received a MBP Retina 15" Haswell 2.6/16GB/512GB.

    Screen model: LP154WT1-SJE1 (new LG).

Tested under the Recovery mode (cmd + R), with the "OS X Utilities" window displayed over the dark gray background.

After 10 minutes, I can barely discern a very slight text "OS X Utilities" on the darkgray background.

So obviously, the new LG screens may be better than before but not that good (on the first 2012 MBP Retina - that I didn't keep -, there were strong ghost images seeable on a darkgray or darkblue background after only 2 minutes).

In addition, the bottom plate of the MBP is slightly dented. Returning it anyway.

    Seriously, Apple?

Ugh...now I'm totally worried I'm going to get IR on my new machine with the same monitor.  I'm going to run more tests, but may end up doing an exchange as my 14 days will be up next Friday.

No IR until a week... I start to believe that this new LG display don't have this problem. All my previous LG screen with 2012 retina models had bad IR form the start...

I tried to get IR to occur in recovery mode as SaintBol mentioned, but was unable to.

However, after reading more through this thread from earlier in the year, I'm going to do some exchanges at the Apple store this weekend to see if I can get a Samsung to compare.

I'm really ****** of against Apple. I need to buy a new computer and the 13" rmbp would be perfect for me. I really want to buy it and I have been using an old PC laptop waiting for the release of the haswell revision in the hope that Apple would have done quietly something to get ride of the IR problems and of course they haven't .... I have been following and reading every reviews and topics about IR on pretty much everything and as far as i know if i buy the computer i want i will have IR. My only hope of not having the issue is getting a 15" model which I do not want. It is way too big for me and I don't need the extra power so that would pain me to spend so much cash on something I don't really want. When I'll buy a computer I'll get Apple Care anyway but as there is only defective 13" screens for the moment it is useless. Apple would just replace (if they agree to replace the screen and not try to screw me with their IR test) my screen with another faulty LG. Aside from this issue I know the computer is great and my reason / common sens is preventing me from buying one ... Don't know what to do anymore. I don't trust on Apple solving the problem anytime soon ...
