Printer problems

I have just bought my first mac. Great stuff. However, I am having trouble in getting it to work with my OKI printer. The printer is installed and is visible on the dialog box but when I send anything to print I get "error". Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Open the Printer Utility.

Hit the green Pause Printer button.

Delete all the Jobs in the Status list.

Hit the green Resume Printer button.

Note the Printer Status. (Ready, Offline, etc..)

If Ready, close the Printer Utility and send a new job to the Printer.

If you get another error, jot down or take a screen shot of it and report back.

Hi. Followed all your instructions, cleared everything down, switched off both the mac and the printer, physically disconnected the cable, started up the mac. Then plugged in the printer and started up the printer. The mac automatically found the printer, sent a document...

...and got the same error message.

Thsi is frustrating isn't it?
