I would recommend that you purchase RAM from OWC or Crucial, both being customer friendly and having Mac compatible RAM. You will be assured that what you get will work.

The RAM will not be covered by the Apple warranty, but the rest of the MBP will. You will have lifetime warranty on the RAM from the vendor.

Ciao.

@ Ryan - OG never mentioned anything in his post about voiding the warranty on the RAM or RAM slots.

He said Apple will not cover the warranty of the RAM he installed but the vendor will.

@ Mike - Make sure the 1600MHz RAM you install in your new MB Pro is between 1.3 - 1.35 Volts. Don't use 1.5Volt DDR3 - 1600MHz.

Go to Crucial.com and look for the RAM made for your MB.

Stay away from no-name brand RAM.

It is possible to get into trouble with Apple warranty when replacing your RAM. But you have to be extemely incompetent and break many parts surrounding the RAM slots while doing it.

There are reports that if you take your system into Apple for other servicing you may need to put Apple's RAM back in to make them happy.

But you would need to be very ham-handed to break anything while installing RAM yourself.
