I migrated my iweb site from mobilem to another host and now some of the movie links that I use are not working. Everything else is working like text and photos but the movies I get the quicktime icon in the place for them. What am Idoing

As I mentioned in reply to your other post, republish your site from iWeb to your new host.

If you use the iWeb FTP all the files will be uploaded correctly...

If you attempt to migrate the files from MobileMe to another server, you may break the site structure or not transfer all the files and folders.

Your QT movies will be in the Media folder so you can check the contents of this on the server to see if the files are there. Use an FTP app or your host's file manager to do this.

Hi Roddy,

thanks for both replies, sorry for the double work. I used these instructions when switching over http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4686

Everything works except the movies and those work when I publish to folder. I will check with the service provider. but also the movies I used were never in the media folder on iWeb. They came from my desktop folders and an external hard drive. should I put them in the media foder on iWeb?

you have been very helpful.

is that making a difference?

yes, that is in web server mime type configuration.

.mov is a well known file extension and is default to video/quicktime mime type.

mp4 or .m4v extension is rather new, it's mpeg4 layer and not all web hosts config .m4v extension.

you can config it yourself (adding extension to mime type), but if you don't know how you can ask your host to add mime type video/mp4 for .m4v extension.

other file extensions can be used with video/mp4 are: mp4 mp4v mpg4 m4v
