Q: 1442 fault?

getting a 1442 fault when trying to restore its not one listed in the fault lists i.e 1415,1428 etc

    You should still try the suggested fixes though.  If still no luck, try plugging the Shuffle into a different USB port on the PC and then attempting to restore it again.  Make sure it's a high powered USB 2.0 port preferrably on the back of the PC itself instead of one along the front.  Obviously this won't apply if you are syncing to a laptop.

     

    Sometimes this error is also the result of a bad USB sync cable.  So if possible, swap it out for a new/different one and trying again to restore it.

     

    Lastly, if you are running any AntiVirus software in the background, try temporarily shutting it down or disabling it to see if that makes any difference.
