how do I remove trash? I keep getting error "cannot complete removing trash-- do not have permissions"

Q: cannot empty trash - do not have permissions
Give this a try. Open Terminal in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following:
sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/*
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen. Press RETURN again.
