My brother lost his ipod touch 64g 2 years ago and I set everything up for him. And he found it in his truck and he doesn't remember the password lock.

Restore using the same computer that was previously used for sync.
If that's not practical, restore with any computer but don't expect to save any of the apps, music, etc.
