I'm having problems trying to setup a guest network. I have heard that I need at least a 3rd generation Airport Extreme to accomplish this feat.
What I would like to know is how can I determine what generation I currently have and I do know that it is not Generation 3 but I would still like to know how I can find out .

In addition to wuzradioman's comments, the following are the Model/Order #s for each of the five (currently) generations of the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) for future reference:
This is not an AirPort Extreme. It is a much older "b/g" version of the AirPort Express.
Apple did not start using the Generation naming until the "n" wireless versions of the Express appeared in 2007.

Go to applications folder and click on Airport Utility. You will see the info you need on top of the Airport Utility window that will pop up.
