iphone photo count doesn't match settings app

I received a new iphone from the apple store and had to restore from icloud.. many of my photos ended up corrupted. i've tried to reset and clear and re-do the restore from icloud and now have just given up to deal with my broken photos and delete them off my phone..

now - in the settings app - my iphone photo count and the camera roll photo count doesn't add up. is there still something wrong with my iphone? how do i reset the count or is there something else I need to do?

should i set up as new phone?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

At this point I'd suggest you restore your phone (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414). Try first by restoring to your backup at the end of the process. If you want things to go faster, backup your phone to iTunes (rather than iCloud, which takes much longer to restore from). You can perform a manual backup in iTunes even if you are backing up to iCloud by connecting your phone to your computer and right-clicking on the name of your phone on the left sidebar of iTunes and choosing Backup. Also, prior to restoring be sure to back up your contacts (such as by syncing them to iCloud in Settings>iCloud>Contacts>On, Outlook or another cloud service). Don't rely solely on your iPhone backup to restore your contacts.

If restoring using your backup does not resolve things, you'll have to save as much of your data as possible and restore your phone as new (without your backup).

Okay so I am doing this right now. Now, if it does NOT add up what do I do?? Also - does photostream count towards my settings count?

I feel like my system is acting awkward like when i want to delete an app it will take at least 1-2min to launch the "delete app" notificiation. is this because my settings are not properly set up? should i clear my phone again?

Thank you for your help!

UPDATE: It did all delete, but it did NOT clear. now having NO photos in camera roll - it says i still have 576 photos and 2 videos. My photostream count is 304. None of this adds up =(
