I'm trying to setup my MacBook Pro for a 3G connection but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to do it. I thought an express card may be the way to go, but it doesn't seem like any of the ports on my macbook would support it. I'd prefer to have something I can plug in or install in my laptop, than a separate 4G hotspot. Any suggestions?

Why don't you go to Best Buy and look at what is available from the various carriers for 3G and 4G connections. You should find that they all will have USB modems. Choose the carrier with the plan that suits you the best. If no Best Buy is convenient to your location, Google is always ready to assist.
