Mildew/Mold in Macbook Pro Display?

I have a Macbook Pro from early 2007. A couple of years ago, it started to develop this weird mildew/mold around the edge of the screen. It has progressively gotten worse. I am wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this, and what I can possibly do about it? I live in Florida, so I'm guessing the extreme humidity is the cause. The mildew is inside the screen, so I don't know if it's cleanable. The laptop still works great, it's just annoying having this border of crud when I'm trying to select menu items.
