I have a used ipod touch, 4th gen, I think and I'm trying to download some apps and get the message "this app requires iOS 4.3." Is it possible to update my opperating system?
This Apple article explains the procedure
If it's a 4th gen iPod touch, you will get iOS 5 as the update (which should be fine for that app).
It must not be a 4th gen, how do I tell? I got it used. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd gen? It lists "version 4.2.1." Does that mean OS 4?
According to this
iPod touch 3rd and 4th gen support iOS 5.1.1. If it's a 2nd gen, the highest iOS version would be 4.2.1, which seems to be what you are getting.
This article may help identify the iPod model
Thank you! That did it! It is a 2nd gen and is running the highest of 4.2.1. I appreciate it!
