Can't Install iTunes 10.6.3 Windows Vista Windows Installer Problem

Basically, just before installation completes a popup of "There is a problem with this Windows InstWhat exactly would I be missing??? please help !aller package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.". I've read many threads that state that all I have to do is run a repair on the Apple Software Update(ASU) but my problem is that I've already uninstalled it. Now what comes to my mind is that, it wasn't a clean uninstall as I just uninstalled through Add & Remove.

So I would preferably like to get an answer to the whole problem or if not what files are linked to the ASU that might cause this problem. Please help I've alot of things and I really hope there is another solution then to reformat my PC, I really don't wanna reformat my laptop just for iTunes and because I have an iPhone, I unfortunately, have to depend on having it installed.

Back story (Why I do not have ASU):

When I updated my iTunes and several other Apple software, I was unable to start itunes, kept getting a permissions issue. So I set all the permissions to my User Account (note that I am, from the start, using an admin account) but still errors kept popping up. Usually when an update doesn't work I just go through Add & Remove and uninstall all Apple programs before trying to reinstall iTunes and etc, which I did, Except this time...

Download and save a full itunessetup.exe or itunessetup64.exe file(depends on your operating system).

Use Winrar to unzip the file into a folder. Then right mouse click the file AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi from that folder to install.

If you don't have winrar, you can go to this link to download a free trial version.

(apologies for barging in, wiclee)

Same popup appeared. This happens for all .msi within iTunes and QuickTime.

It's rare by comparison with the other causes, but permissions trouble can cause this type of message.

By way of experiment, try right-clicking on the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi and selecting "Run as Administrator".

Does that have any impact on the message?

This is KILLING me. I just upgraded from the 3S to a 4S and walked around for a week in bliss. Then, when I got around to backing up my 3S and transferring the data to the 4S every piece of Apple product I own took a big sh$it on me.

I have two different machines (Win 7 and XP) and I can't make the iTunes on either one communicate with the phone anymore. I've been working at this for six hours now. I think Apple is going to get this phone back...
