MacBook pro 2.5ghz vs 2.9ghz

I am looking at buying a new MacBook pro and I was wondering is the difference between the i5 2.5ghz and the i7 2.9ghz for gaming (minecraft civilizations) and video editing.

The differences between the 13" MBP with the i5 and i7 processors is a little more than just the clock speed...the i7 has 4 MB L3 cache while the i5 has only 3 MB L3 cache...that will make the i7 seem faster than just the clock speed would indicate. Plus the i7 is a slightly different technology, has a different structure than the i5 that also speeds calculational throughput.

But OG is very accurate, the graphic processors are the same for both 13" models. Neither has the discrete processor of the 15" models. For heavy duty, graphic-intensive work that is a big draw back. OG is also correct in recommending refurb units...Apple replaces the batteries and any faulty parts in those units, often new cases, so you cannot tell the refurb from brand new. And since they have been very thoroughly tested, they are even better than new in some people's minds..
