Can't play library DVD
Hi,
My computer won't recognize the DVD. Is there anything I can do? It just shows up as a blank DVD. Thank you.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 3.06 GHz Intel processor

Does it play on a DVD player (like for your TV)? Make sure it is very clean and scratch free. iMac Superdrives can be VERY finiky.
My DVD player recently died. So I thought I'd try the computer.
Do you have an App installed on your imac to enable playing the DVD, like iDVD? You do need an App for this; it will not natively play.
Hope this helps đ
Good call! Forgot that DVD Player isn't just there. đ

iDVD is NOT for replaying DVDs, it is for creating DVDs from iMovie.
All Macs have DVD Player installed. Alternatively use VLC.
I got it to work through VLC. It does skip a bit, but it's because the DVD is scratched in parts. Thank you for your help.
