No malware on iPad or any iOS device. Very scarce on Mac. Common sense (i.e. not clicking on suspicious links) is the only tool you need. So while I can't testify whether it is legitimate or not, it is definitely not something you need or want on your Mac.
It's legitimate, but ClamXav or Sophos Home, both free, will be better bets if you want to use anything. See Thomas A Reed's Malware Guide.

They specialize in finding "spyware" which other A-V software generally doesn't look for since it has to be installed with physical or network access to your computer. It is also known for producing false alarms.
