I am sure that a few months ago somebody told me how to view a clip with and without an applied effect using a keyboard shortcut . . . but I can't remember it?
It wasn't Undo Changes (cmd Z) or Redo Changes (Shift cmd Z).
I'm sure it was one command that could toggles the effect on and off.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), FCE 4 + FCS 3 . . . Little Knowledge, Many Opinions.

How about using auditions to create a duplicate without Effect (Shift + Cmd + Y)
and CTRL + Goto next frame/previous frame to toggle between the two clips
Thanks for the suggestions but I had in mind a simple toggling keystroke.
As I have been fiddling intermittently with FCP X, FCP 7, FCE 4, iMovies 6 and 9, Photoshop etc. etc. it's not too difficult to become confused. 😉
Oh my gosh. One or two programs at a time is enough to comfuse me!
