Q: Deleting documents in iCloud (web)

I use iphone 4 (5.1.1) and ipad 2 (5.1.1) and icloud seems to work. Recently though all the docs in pages and numbers started showing the up arrow icon in the top right corner - they won't sync. If I switch off and switch on icloud they're all there but new documents dont work and uploads simply do not happen. Ive backed up the 200-odd Mb of docs manually via iTunes file transfer so my data is safe but the web access to iCloud wont let me delete all the documents to reset the sync, nor is there option of resetting sync. Ive reset both devices to scratch and restored with as well as without icloud backup restore. No difference. Please help.

Have you tried deleting them from your iOS device via settings >iCloud >storage & backup >manage storage.

Thanks for the response but no dice. The documents duly get deleted but return moments later. Even deleted the device backups but the documents remain. Is there a way to reset iCloud to day one - as if you just created the account for the first time? I've purchased additional storage else would have just switched to a new apple id

I'm not aware of anyway you can reset iCloud in that way.

For what it is worth, I have always been able to delete any corrupt documents in iCloud, by deleting them from all devices, icloud.com or as a last resort from my iCloud settings. On occasions, it has required me to turn off document & data syncing on these devices while I do this.

That's the thing. I have tried all of those three options (with document data on and off) nothing works. Thanks for your help.

Just to be sure did you also try turning off iCloud in the iWork apps (e.g settings > pages > iCloud)

    Hi Winston,

So I've reset my devices and been able to delete all the documents from icloud (web). But when I now switch on Documents and Data (only on iPad so that only device is syncing for now), a set of documents pop up on iPad all showing sync errors (pages and numbers icons representing documents with blank progress bars, or blank documents with progress bars that don't open or update and so forth). The app says "Updating 15 documents..." but after a while the app is willing to open new documents but no updates happen. And soon after this the up arrow (waiting to sync) icon appears on the document in both Pages and Numbers. And finally, the progress bar will appear, move some part of the way and then stop. And then the app works but doesn't sync any further.

To re-clarify, my icloud (web) account only shows the coloured icons for the new documents (as opposed to a "live" icon with text or spreadsheet items in them) and no other documents at all. I've created precisely one document each on iPad and these are the only ones on icloud. But on the ipad there's all those other documents that pop up.

I've got everything backup so I'm not worried. But in this instance, "it just works" isn't happening. Please help.

Below is the icloud web screenshot (chrome/Windoes) and then the ipad screenshot (iPad 2, 64Gb 3G, 5.1.1). The first document (Hayate-DreamY-Splendor) is the only document that should be there on both. The rest are officially deleted (do not appear on web, on the icloud settings page etc).
