iPad Photo Album not visible on computer

I have a user with a 1st gen iPad. He took the iPad to Africa with him and when all was said and done, their photographer transfered all of the images to his iPad. There are close to 1500 pictures total which we cannot get to appear in iPhoto on his iMac, nor by browsing on a PC.

In the photo app, if you select photos, you can see all 1900 images on his iPad. If you go to albums, there are two albums, "saved photos" and "User's Photos". All of the images under "saved photos"(402 pictures) appear on the iMac and PC. Under "Users photos" you can see 454 photos of which are not visible on the iMac nor PC. The other 1000+ pictures from Africa do not appear in either album and are not visible on computers.

We are trying to get them copied off of his iPad so he can make backups of them, but seem to have hit a wall here.

Thanks for your assistance.

Many thanks to the dev team at iFunBox. Using this application I was able to drill down into the iOS file system, find the photos, and make a backup to my local hard drive.

As said before, we don't know how the photographer transferred the photos, but being as they were in an album, I assume iPhoto.

When drilling down into the file system, there was a Camera folder(even though there is no camera) which contained all of the photos which were visible on computers.

Addtitionally, there was another folder called Photos which housed all of the vacation photos in folders labeled "Fxx" xx being a reference number. All 1472 photos in this directory were not visible on computers.
